We will use texts to support our creative writing whilst looking closely at author styles and authorial intent. In the first half term, the texts will link to the Stone Age topic in order to further embed historical knowledge and understanding. Throughout each week, there will be a specific focus on the curriculum content of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. Each Friday, weekly spellings will be sent home for the children to learn as they will be tested the following week. Reading books and reading record books will also be sent home. Parents can support the progress of children's reading by listening to their child read, making comments in the reading record book and encouraging reading for pleasure as well as reading for purpose.
