Spelling
In your home learning packs are the statutory spellings for Years 3-6, which you can continue practising and trying to include in any writing that you do.
I will also update Spelling Shed weekly with different spelling rules/patterns. Some ideas of extra activities that you could do to practise spellings are:
- Make a dictionary of the spelling words to find the meaning of each one
- Write sentences that include the words
- Play noughts and crosses with someone - each of you choose a spelling word and see who can get 3 in a row first - make sure you spell it correctly!
- Practise joining your spellings in your handwriting books
- If the word has a suffix or prefix, think about what the root word was before it was added.
- If possible, do a spelling test towards the end of the week for the words you have been practising - ask someone at home to read the words out and then mark it afterwards.
