Reflective Materials
We have been discussing how the moon reflects the sun's light into our eyes so that we can see it.
We then looked at what makes some materials more reflective than others.
Mrs Lavin is concerned that it is getting darker before and after school when she walks her dogs.
Even though Mrs Lavin now has a reflective jacket, her dogs coats are black and not very visible in the dark to other pedestrians and drivers.
She has asked the children to investigate what material would be useful to add to the coat to make it more visible in the dark.
We planned and carried out an experiment to see which materials would reflect light well and which materials would not. Before the experiment, the children made predictions of which material they thought would reflect light the best and which material would not reflect light well.
