Greenfield Primary School is extremely proud of the children, staff and parents and their active involvement in Physical Education and activity. As a school we work together in order to ensure children are provided with many opportunities to participate in a variety of sporting activities on a regular basis.
Please take a look at our page and see what our children have been getting up to
Please be aware that Mr Wood provides children with the opportunity to participate in football or cricket training on numerous occasions throughout the week. This is held during KS2 lunchtime and is available for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Children must bring suitable clothing and footwear (in addition to their PE kits) if they wish to participate.
Cross Country Champions
We are very proud to announce that Greenfield Primary School have won the Cross Country Friday League for 2017-2018. Various children from our school have attended 6 races whereby all children worked extremely hard to try and complete the course in a quicker time than children from other schools in the borough. We had many children who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd place on numerous occasions and we are thrilled to have such hardworking and supportive individuals to make our Cross Country Team. There have been lots of children training for Cross Country and each race we have taken different children.
On Friday 27th April 2018, we were very excited to be able to return to school with 3 trophies. Trophies were awarded to our year Year 5 & 6 boys as well as our team of Year 5 & 6 girls. We also had a trophy awarded for coming 1st overall in the Friday Cross Country League.
The Cross Country League is now finished for 2017-2018 and therefore training will commence in September 2018. Mr Wood is now focusing on training children for Cricket and Football.
We would like to say a big thank you to all parents and grandparents that have provided transport to assist us in taking children to/from Cross Country. There have been many parents/grandparents/family members that have attended Cross Country events to support our children and it has been such a big help. We hope to see you again next year.
I personally would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the children to offer a big thank you to Mr Wood who offers his lunch times to go out and train with the children.
Well done to children, staff and parents.
On Wednesday 7th March 2018, a group of 10 girls attended a Dance Competition in Oldham. The girls had worked extremely hard over 3 sessions to plan and rehearse a dance routine. The girls were very excited to enter the competition and with help from their parents looked fantastic on the day of the event. Parents and children had chosen some fantastic outfits and the girls looked amazing! Mr Wood, Miss Egan and Miss Bradley attended the competition with the girls and all 3 members of staff were extremely proud of the girls performance. We are highly delighted to announce that the girls came 3rd in the competition. We are over the moon with this as the girls had very little time to rehearse and to come 3rd out of 17 teams is a fantastic result!
Well done Girls !!

Once again, a group of children from the juniors have attended Stoneleigh Park in order to compete in an external Cross Country competition. This time we were able to enter children into the Years 3 and 4 category as well as the Years 5 and 6 category. The 16 children representing school were extremely well behaved and tried their best throughout the event. The children have been working hard over recent weeks and were up against some fantastic runners from various schools from our Local Authority.
Up first in Race 1 was our girls in the Years 3 and 4 category!
Our girls did absolutely fantastic and managed to come 1st out of all teams in the Year 3 and 4 category for girls.
Next up we had the Years 3 and 4 category for boys!
Again, we were so impressed with how well the boys did within their event. Evan managed to come 2nd out of all of the Year 3 and 4 boys taking part in todays event. He was extremely proud of his achievement and was happy to accept a medal from the event organisers. Overall the boys came 2nd out of all teams in the Years 3 and 4 boys category.
Next to represent our school, we had the Years 5 and 6 girls!
We had high expectations for our Years 5 and 6 girls as we had watched some superb running from the children in Years 3 and 4. Our girls managed to come 2nd out of all of the teams entered into the Years 5 and 6 category for girls. Chloe set herself a challenge of coming 1st or 2nd out of all girls competing in the Years 5 and 6 event. This was after her fantastic performance in the previous event when she came 3rd. Today we were extremely pleased for Chloe as we watched her sprint her way to the finish line coming in at 2nd. Chloe was delighted to take a medal home with her!
Our final team to end todays event was the Years 5 and 6 boys category!
The boys continued in the footsteps of our other teams as they managed to come joint 1st (overall) with another team from the Local Authority. The boys waited patiently for their event and came back with a promising result. Luca managed to race his way into 3rd place out of all boys who entered into the Years 5 and 6 event.
