Welcome to Class 1's web page. Here you will find lots of useful information about what is happening within class, as well as photographs of the children hard at work. Please visit our class page on a regular basis as it will provide you with an insight as to what your children have been learning about in class as well as what we plan to learn about next.
This week's class targets...
Last week the children really impressed myself and Mrs Blackmore by confidently working together to count and order numbers to 10. This week we aim for the children to continue their fantastic counting by counting beyond 10 and showing us how well they can count to 20. I also have a sneaky suspicion that some children will also be able to work together to order the numbers from 0-20 in the correct order. This week we shall also be looking at different ways of adding single digit numbers together. Perhaps at home you could ask your child some addition questions. This week we will primarily focus on adding single digit numbers.
A few examples...
Are you able to add together 4 and 3?
What is 2 plus 2?
This week we also hope that the children will show off their fantastic writing skills by having a go at writing their name. I am aware that some children are already able to write their name and therefore we will be looking carefully at forming our letters correctly as well as recognising and beginning to write our surnames.
If your child has a go at writing their name at home, they are more than welcome to bring this into school to share with their friends. We would love to share any work that children have completed at home.
Over the next few weeks we shall be sharing lots of stories with the children and different adults will read to the children on a regular basis. One story that we shall focus on over the next few weeks is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I have many activities planned linked to this story that I believe the children will find very enjoyable.
Perhaps the children could visit the local library or read one of their favourite books from home. We would love to hear about the children's favourite books during our story times.
