Wand Design
This week in Year 5, we have been designing and creating our own Harry Potter wands. We drew diagrams of what we'd like our wands to look like, thinking about what special spells it would be able to do and what magical powers it would have at its core. We then transformed sticks into our wands. Here are some pictures of our hard work:

Should Pluto be considered a planet?
In English, Year 5 are learning all about balanced arguments, where we discuss an issue and look at both sides of the argument. Following our Space topic, we are focusing our balanced arguments on whether or not we should let Pluto be considered a planet again. Since its discovery, Pluto was always considered a planet before having its status revoked in 2006, since then being considered a dwarf planet.
Why do some people believe Pluto should be a planet? Why do others think scientists were right to take its planet status off it? We went on a fact collecting hunt to discover all of the different arguments! Here are some pictures:
