Linking Project 2022-23

So far this year our Year 4 children have visited Gallery Oldham and the Summit Up Climbing Centre, exchanged Christmas cards with our link class and have welcomed our link class from St Margaret’s to our school for a morning visit. During their visit, we completed team building challenges, our children taught the children from St Margaret’s how to play the cornet and did some art work.

Linking Project 2021-22

This year the children have loved taking part in The Linking Project and have been able to go on a number of visits as part of our involvement in the scheme. We have visited Gallery Oldham where we learnt about Oldham's cotton industry and we were able to explore the art work around the gallery. The children loved their visit to Gallery Oldham as they were able to mix with their peers from our 'link class' from St Margaret's and worked collaboratively with them throughout the day. We also visited the Castleshaw Centre where the children were able to develop their team building skills and practise map reading.

Due to the pandemic our involvement with the Linking Project was a bit different this year. A lot of the activities and workshops we usually take part in had to be held virtually. However, we were still able to enjoy getting to know the children in our link class from St Margaret's and learn more about our local area in Oldham.

Christmas Songs

Christmas cheer... the children at Greenfield Primary School were unable to visit the residential care home to sing songs this year due to the virus. Instead we have recorded some of their favourites and forwarded the video for them to enjoy at Christmas.

MISSING YOU - We hope this video cheers you up while you are away from school.

A big thank you to PCSO Lee who helped us pick our winners for the Egg designing competition and bonnet parade on Wednesday 3rd April 2019. Your help and presence in our school is appreciated.

If you are a parent or carer, we hope you will find the web links below useful.

LINKING PROJECT 2019

For the second year running, class 4 have been taking part in the ‘Linking project.’ This is where we participate in activities with a school to provide meaningful interaction between children from diverse communities.

This is to help:

  • Promote attitudinal change at a personal level.
  • Increase awareness and knowledge of different cultural and social perspectives.
  • Increase awareness and knowledge of commonality of interests and life-experience.
  • Challenge young people to reflect on preconceptions and stereotypical views.
  • Empower young people to take responsibility for their contribution to community cohesion.
  •

We have currently visited each other’s schools, completing a wide range of activities. We have taken part in an interfaith workshop, looking at the similarities and difference between the Muslim and Catholic faith.

We have also attended a session at Gallery Oldham, where we learnt about the local history of Oldham as well as taking part in a drama activity on the cotton mills. The children thoroughly loved this!

We have built up a great relationship with our linking school; we hope to finish this year with a trip to Castleshaw completing team building activities.
