Sports Day 2022

28th June 2022

 

Today the whole school celebrated Spanish Day. We wore the colours of the Spanish flag, tried some Spanish food and learnt the names for Spanish colours and numbers. 🇪🇸

We have had another busy and exciting week in Reception!

We have had a very exciting week in Reception as our caterpillars hatched from their cocoons safely. After a few days we were able to release them and we watched them fly away. 🦋

This week we have enjoyed watching our caterpillars eat their food and get bigger and more active. We also went on a mini beast hunt to see what other insects we could find. 🕷🐛🐞🐝🐌

Baby caterpillars have come to stay with us in Reception. We have to look after them carefully and we can watch them grow. 🐛🦋

This week the Reception children have taken part in an egg rolling competition and an Easter bonnet parade. They all had a wonderful time. Well done to everyone!

We’ve had another busy and fun filled week in Reception. We have shared the story ‘Dinosaurs Love Underpants’, we have been learning about number bonds in Maths and we are beginning to use the + and = signs to write simple number sentences. 

World Book Day 2022

 

In Reception we focused on the story ‘The Little Red Hen’. We all dressed in red and we even made and baked our own bread which we then enjoyed at snack time. 🍞😋

We have had a very busy last week of this half term. We have continued to develop our independent reading and writing, we have been investigating the length of different items and we have been to the Kitchen Disco! We have explored different fruit from the story, painted it, printed patterns with it and then eaten it for snack! 😋🍎🍋🍍🥭🍇🥥

This week we have shared the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We have made our own beanstalks and then used them to measure. We have also designed and then junk modelled our favourite toys.

What a busy week! We had a visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer and we performed our EYFS nativity for our grown ups! 

3rd December 2021

We are now enjoying the count down to Christmas! This week we enjoyed a visit from a theatre company who performed ‘Aladdin’ for Reception and Nursery. We all really enjoyed the pantomime.👏We have been practising for our own show and we enjoyed spending our Greenfield Currency on a drink of juice and a biscuit! 🍪🥤

This week we have shared the story ‘The tiger who came to tea’. We wrote shopping lists and made front covers. We invited the tiger to our class so we could ask him some questions. He told us all about his favourite food and how much he enjoys Mrs Goodwin’s baking. 😋🍰🧁

19th November 2021

This week has been very busy! The Big Bad Wolf came to visit and we made ‘Wanted’ posters. We got to ask the wolf lots of questions. He was very well behaved during his visit. We have also investigated different materials for building houses and designed and made our own houses. On Friday we joined the whole school in completing a danceathon to raise money for Children in Need. 💃🕺

12th November 2021

This week we have learnt about Remembrance Day. We joined the whole school in a special assembly. We have also been doing lots of counting in Maths and representing amounts in different ways. We have also made information leaflets in Literacy.  

5th November 2021

 We were back to school with a bang this week after our Half Term holiday. We have celebrated Diwali and Bonfire Night this week and also contended with an outbreak of cheeky peas! 😂 We loved reading about the adventures of Supertato and Evil Pea and linked this to some independent writing. ✏️

22nd October 2021

 

What a wonderful end to our first half term in Reception. This week our learning has had an Autumnal theme.🍁🍂 We have shared the story ‘The Gruffalo’, we have made Gruffalo Crumble and sequenced instructions. We ended the week with a Gruffalo song. Have a lovely half term holiday everyone. 😁

We have had another busy week in Reception. We took part in celebrating Black History Week along with the rest of the school. We focused on Martin Luther King. We ended with Spooky Day on Friday. Thank you to PIPs for organising this.🎃👻🕸🕷

8th October 2021

 

This week we have been developing our segmenting and blending skills in Phonics, we have shared the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and we’ve been sorting and matching in Maths. We ended the week raising awareness and money for the #helloyellow campaign. We talked about the importance of helping our minds to be healthy as well as our bodies. We had a ‘care chair’ in class and talked about what made us happy. We tried out Yoga and dressed in yellow for the day. 🙂💛

This week we have done some super subitising in Maths and we have sequenced the story ‘Rainbow Fish’ in Literacy. We ended the week with an ‘under the sea’ Dance Write activity. We are developing our fine motor skills and pencil control and learning to form letters correctly.

We have had another busy week in Reception. We have worked together to make a Colour Monster display in our classroom and we have been practising showing different emotions using our faces and body language. 😁🥰🙁😱 We have also been talking about our families and the people who are special to us. 😊

17th September 2021

 

All the Reception children continue to settle well at Greenfield Primary. They are becoming more confident in their new learning environments and they are enjoying making new friends. This week we shared the story ‘The Colour Monster’, painted our hands to print, made a silly soup using rhyming words and enjoyed some September sunshine. ☀️

We are so proud of all the children in Reception. They have all settled so quickly and have enjoyed their first week at school. 😀👏👍
