Music Overview
At Greenfield Primary School, we use the Kapow scheme of work to resource and plan our music lessons.
The children in Year 4 have been undertaking weekly, hour-long cornet lessons with a specialist music teacher from Oldham Music Service.
Since September 2022, children in Year 5 have had the opportunity to take part in additional weekly brass lessons for the duration of the year and have full use of their chosen instrument for the duration of the academic year.
This year our school brass band is growing and we now have members of the band from both Year 5 and Year 6.
Tim from ROCKSTEADY music came back to school today to deliver a fantastic music workshop. He talked about the different instruments and how to play them and some children were invited up to the front of the hall to play.
We can’t wait for our rock band tuition lessons to start!
KS2 classes had the pleasure of taking part in an African drumming workshop. They not only had the opportunity to play some rhythms on an African drum but also got to ask lots of questions about African culture.
Tim from Rocksteady Music came into school and delivered a special music assembly to our KS1 and KS2 children. He taught us about the instruments that are needed to make up a rock band and talked about rhythms and beats. At the end of the assembly, Tim even invited some of the teachers up to have a go at playing the instruments and forming a band.
