Phonics
Phase 1 phonics creates a crucial foundation to the subsequent teaching of reading and writing.
In Phase 1 phonics, we aim to give children opportunities to practice using their listening skills to tune into sounds. These activities include listening for sounds in the environment, instrument sounds, voice sounds, rhythm, rhyme and alliteration all before learning to listen for the sounds in words.
The children love these activities and older children enjoy regular small group phonics sessions with Rebecca.
