This year, most homework will be set online through Ed Shed, Times Table Rock Stars (TTRockstars), and sentence work in your child’s homework book. Homework is really important for reinforcing and embedding learning covered in class. Logins are provided on the back of your child's reading record.
Homework this year will include:
Practising spellings (which can be found on Spelling Shed) and any other way which helps your child learn their spellings,
TT Rockstars, practising the term’s multiplication and division facts.
Reading records, please aim to read with your child three times a week. This will help them become fluent readers, repeating the same book develops their familiarity with words.
Sentences: writing sentences which incorporate the week’s spellings.
Reading records will be sent home every Friday and are required to be brought back into school by Wednesday at the latest to allow enough time to change your child's book.
We celebrated World Book Day as a school. We enjoyed dressing up, creating bookmarks, using oil pastels, and listening to an amazing author, Vanessa Taylor talk about her books. In the afternoon, we visited our friends in Reception and enjoyed reading to them.

In Lime Class, we celebrated Anti-bullying week by wearing odd socks. We did this to celebrate our differences and everything that makes us unique and wonderful. In the morning, we also wrote a kind comment about everyone in the class and talked about how the words we use can have a positive or negative effect on other people.
During Black History Week we have been learning about the life of Katherine Johnson. Katherine was a computer for NASA who had to overcome many obstacles to be recognised for her work. We have enjoyed learning about how resilient Katherine was, and how her work has enabled us to learn more about Space.🌙
