Our English focus this half term is sentence structure and identifying word classes. We will also be writing a portal story following the theme of our class novel 'Stone Age Boy'. This half term we will also be reading the book 'How to wash a woolly mammoth' and writing our own set of instructions.
In Year 3 it is very important that children are reading regularly. This not only helps their comprehension skills and reading fluency to develop but also has a great impact on their writing too.
Every child in Birch class will be sent home with a reading record and school reading book on the first day of school. Children will always have the opportunity to exchange their reading book for a new one, once they have finished reading it.
In school we develop our spelling skills and knowledge and practise our weekly spellings in a variety of ways. One way in which the children can also practise their spellings at home is to play on Spelling Shed. Please see the link below to access the Spelling Shed webpage.
